TONS O’ Pictures!

Date May 24, 2008

Nate and Abby look at the camera.

Hey everyone. Nathan keeps growing and getting better at reading and relating to other children all the time. Abigail, well, she keeps growing too, and is crawling around like a banshee and getting better and faster at putting small objects and fuzz into her mouth. Kathy finished up Tax Season with flying colors and still enjoys nursing Abby. Mike is still writing and arranging music, taking care of the kids, and had to send Ashley into an early retirement and buy a new car. It’s orange.

If you want to see some pictures that cover the range of our lives from December 2007 to February 2008, with a “special request” gallery of photos from May 2008, click the picture above to head to the Photo Gallery. The NEW pictures begin at “December 2007 - Family Photos.” (I know, it’s like SO long ago…) All the pictures have captions for your perusing enjoyment, and so you know what’s going on. Mike’s personal favorite caption reads something like, “Here’s Nathan posing for the camera.” Like you couldn’t figure that out. We’ll fill in the blanks (March-April ‘08) and get the gallery up to date soon.

:)

Blessings,

The Latest news about Nathan and Abigail

Date March 18, 2008

So it’s been Far Too Long since we gave a true update. But we’re all still here, and, now that we’re all finished with the second round of colds, we’re doing really great! (We might be on the cusp of round 3!)

Nathan continues to amaze us. Every once in a while, we catch ourselves saying, “Who are you, and what have you done with our son?” Like, for instance, every 33rd naptime, he reminds Daddy that he needs to take a nap and doesn’t fuss or complain at all! And now that he’s doing more than just spelling words, a whole new world of books is opening up for him - the I Can Read It All By Myself books! Yes, Nathan is READING. Soon, he’ll have his very own email address…and, before we know it, car keys.  But for now, he’s thoroughly enjoying PreSchool - he even read part of a book for his class today - he had the “Sharing Bag,” and brought a book (as well as a few things with wheels)!  Nathan pretty much eats what we eat (with a few exceptions where we make him PB&J or Mac n Cheese…).   He uses a salad fork and regular spoon and has pretty much completely stopped wearing bibs!  He’s trying to learn to like the flavor of toothpaste with fluoride, but so far, we’ve struck out with every flavor we’ve tried.

Abby is such a happy little girl and a delight for Mommy and Daddy to be with. She is so smiley and happy and mellow! (for the most part!) In the past two weeks, Abigail has become mobile. She’s our little crawler.  For a little bit there, she could SORTa crawl, but not well enough to be happy. She’d see something across the room, head that direction, get totally frustrated, and end up screaming at us. But now that she can actuallyget to the “something,” she’s a whole lot happier - until we take it away. :) So she learned how to pull herself up to standing on everything - the bookshelf, couch, chairs, posts, etc…Oh, and did I mention she’s going to be a climber… You can see it in her eyes that she’s trying to figure out where the next “level” is and how to get there. We have a funny feeling that our first trip to the emergency room will be for Abigail, our “calmer child.” The upside is, now that she moves around so much more, she has been an avid sleeper at night - sometimes up to 10 hours at a time! Mommy has to wake her up to eat most mornings! Abby has begun the solid food routine, and has enjoyed grain cereals and homemade fruit and veggie purees - Daddy has been outSTANDing with the food processor and blender! We think she wants to eat something more substantial - something she can truly sink her 2 teeth into - like cardboard, carpet fuzz, books, magazines, socks, her toes, monster truck tires, shoes, blankets, and much much more!

Nathan and Abigail are enthralled with each other. Nathan enjoys “spotting” her when she climbs up and stands - he actually does a really nice job of catching her! Whenever Nathan enters her room, her eyes immediately go to where he is. He’ll sometimes make goofy sounds and dance around, to which she smiles really big and sometimes belly laughs! Nathan sang to her in the car to keep her awake yesterday, and he made her laugh SO hard.

Kathy is more than halfway through tax season, which basically means she works every other Saturday (as well as a normal Monday through Friday).  She’s also extra busy at work during this time.  April 15 is on its way!  Our family looks forward to the extra time she’ll have to play…

Mike continues to arrange music for the Praise Ensemble at church - his project this year is to completely organize all of the music that we’ve learned over the past 9 years!   He’s arranged a new version of “Lord I Lift Your Name on High,” (for those of you who may know how that goes) and is excited to debut it at Easter services with the Praise Ensemble this Sunday.  House renovation projects are at a standstill - this summer, he’ll try to “remodel” the back yard with a whole bunch of new dirt, and some new grass to boot!  Nathan is sure to help with the digging and hauling of dirt.

So much changes in such little time.  We’ll try to keep you posted more regularly (so you don’t have QUITE as much to read)!  Be on the lookout for some pictures in the near future…God’s blessings to all!

Nathan Spells Words - a Video…

Date February 11, 2008

Hey all,

We promise we’ll get you updated with the latest from our kids (and us, I guess, if you really want to know), but for now, enjoy this video of Nathan spelling words for one of the first times. It may go a little slow, but stick around, it gets better and better…

Merry Christmas - some new pix!

Date December 27, 2007

Nathan works on his camera skills…

So we pray everyone’s Christmas has been merry! Since Mike played and sang at 5 church services in two days, he’s been hard at work getting toys out of boxes, putting toys together (which seems easier than getting them out of the boxes), and recycling cardboard…oh, yeah - we’re playing with lots of new trucks and helicopters!

Santa left a new digital camera for the family, so Mike cleaned off the other camera cards, and lo and behold, there were a bunch of pictures Nathan took! SO, we decided to give you a glimpse of his photography skills. Just click the picture!

We’ll try to post Christmas pictures soon. God’s blessings on your new year!
